2013, Feb 12 - Feb 16 — http://benasque.org/2013tqi/
Scope of the conference:
Symposia on Topological Quantum Information aim at gathering people interested in understanding topological phases, how they emerge in concrete systems, their connections with the theory of quantum computation, and the possibility to use such phases as a robust quantum memory.
A special SFP (Société Française de Physique) - IRSAMC (Institut de Recherche sur les Systèmes Atomiques et Moléculaires Complexes) seminar will be given by Professor Tony Leggett, during his one month stay in LPT Toulouse on the following topic: [bleu] Does the everyday world really obey quantum mechanics?[/bleu] [bleu marine]Quantum mechanics has been enormously successful in describing nature at the atomic level, and most physicists believe that it is in principle the "whole truth" about the (...)

Prof. Tony Leggett will give 4 lectures of 2h in the seminar room of IRSAMC (3rd floor). Exotic superconductivity These lectures are intended as an introduction to those superconductors, all discovered since 1975, which appear not to be well described by the traditional BCS theory; while the main emphasis will be on the most spectacular member of this class, the cuprates, I shall also discuss more briefly the heavy-fermion, organic, ruthenate and ferropnictide superconductors. I shall (...)
An international workshop organized by the LPT, From Quantum Foundations to Quantum Fluids, will be held on 4-6 April 2012 at Université Paul Sabatier in honor of Professor Anthony Leggett, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA), and 2003 Nobel Prize in Physics.
The LPT and the Institut de Mathématiques de Toulouse (IMT) organize a one-day workshop addressing common scientific themes between our laboratories. The workshop will be set at the LPT-IRSAMC seminar room, on the 4th April 2011, starting at 9:00 and is open to anyone interested. Download the program and the abstracts of the talks.
