The Smoluchowski-Poisson equation is derived in several contexts in physics, chemistry, and biology. Through the Toland duality its stationary state is equivalent to the stationary mean field equation of point vortices. We describe a detailed proof of mass quantization for 2D non-stationary solutions. Related results on multi-species and multi-dimensions are also discussed.
