SU(N) magnetic phases in cold gases and their application

I will talk about the SU(N) antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic phases within Mott insulators of multi-component ultracold atomic gases. I will concentrate on the cases of : 1) N=3 as realized by 3 component bosons and 2) N=4 as realized by 4 component fermions. I will include perturbations around SU(N) points and present ground state phase diagrams for the above systems in 1D and quasi 1D cases.
Finaly, I will argue that SU(N) aniferromagnets can be useful tool in experiments on ultracold gases.
