Drag forces in classical fields

The drag force on point like defects moving a constant velocity through free classical fields is investigated. We compare our results with those obtained from Monte Carlo simulations of a localized magnetic field moving through an Ising model with Glauber and Kawasaki dynamics. These simulations can be remarkably well fitted by computations for a free field under model A and B dynamics respectively. As a further example we analyze the drag, due to membrane height and composition fluctuations, on a small membrane defect such as a protein.
