Skyrmion-electron bound states in a Néel antiferromagnet

Topological textures such as Skyrmions and domain walls have been attracting much attention by their aesthetic beauty, fundamental interest – and the promise for information processing. In an article published in the Special Collection in honor of Emmanuel Rashba, two LPT physicists have shown that, under certain conditions, a Skyrmion in a Néel antiferromagnet produces electron bound states. In the presence of dopant carriers, this turns the Skyrmion into a charged particle. Please see the paper for details.
