Postdoctoral position Theory of Quantum Disordered Systems

A post-doctoral position in condensed matter theory is now open at the Laboratoire de Physique Théorique of Toulouse, France. This position is funded by the French Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR) in the framework of the grant GLADYS, on the glassy nature of quantum disordered systems.

The objective of this project is to show that paradigmatic quantum disordered problems, Anderson localization, many-body localization and the superfluid-insulator transition, have universal glassy properties. The project will contain both (depending on the candidate) analytical and numerical investigations. A good knowledge in state-of-the-art programming tools would be greatly appreciated. Given the interest in quantum interacting disordered systems, localization, and glassy physics, expertise in at least one of these areas will also be strongly appreciated. Citizenship does not matter.

The position is available for two years. The postdoctoral researcher will work together with Gabriel Lemarié, Nicolas Laflorencie, and Bertrand Georgeot at Laboratoire de Physique Théorique in Toulouse, France. 50% of the postdoc time will be spent at Majulab, international joint research unit of CNRS-UCA-SU-NUS-NTU in Singapore, where the postdoctoral researcher will work together with Gabriel Lemarié and Christian Miniatura. Salary will follow the standard regulations of the CNRS and will depend on experience. In addition to the salary, health insurance, retirement and unemployment benefits, plus support for travels are provided.

The successful candidate is expected to take the position from december 1st, 2019, but the precise starting date can be discussed with the successful applicant.
