Following the tradition of the previous successful meetings that have started in 2009, the Theory Days workshop aims at stimulating constructive discussions, collaborations, and knowledge exchange among a selected group of theoreticians. This year, the tenth edition will be dedicated to various methods and numerical treatments of dynamical correlations beyond mean-field in complex electronic systems.
While electronic correlations are relatively well described in a static picture by various theoretical approaches, the out-of-equilibrium case remains to some extent unclear. We will especially address far off-equilibrium dynamical scenarios for which the situation is particularly open. These cases typically correspond to scenarios of irradiation of clusters and molecules by ultrashort and intense laser pulses. In particular, the aim is to analyze the relaxation dynamics of the electronic cloud and the appearance of related dissipative phenomena, notably leading to the emergence of a temperature at the electronic level. We will also discuss the coupling on longer times to ionic degrees of freedom (electron-phonon coupling).
The analysis of far off-equilibrium dynamics is an old issue addressed in many fields of physics, in particular in nuclear physics since several decades. However, appropriate solutions, beyond semiclassical methods, have not been reached yet. Therefore, there is not for the time being a quantal theory allowing the satisfying description of electronic correlation dynamics, especially in finite systems like molecules and nanostructures. This topic has recently attracted a high interest, in particular from the experimental viewpoint, and this, in many fields in physics and chemistry as the aforementioned cluster and molecular physics but also transport phenomena in solids or in ultracold gases. Therefore, talks from experts in these related fields are planned to enrich the discussions.
The objective of this workshop is to explore the possible or the already implemented solutions which allow one to describe out-of-equilibrium electronic correlations, to share our knowledge, to identify the important and still open issues, as well as the future directions. We plan to gather people from various groups working in this domain, mostly in western Europe. The meeting is intended to be a working forum, thus rather informal. The format will consist in a series of long detailed talks, typically 1 hour (40 min talk + 15 min for questions) focusing in particular on ongoing problems and open ends. We thus urge participants to prepare their talks in this spirit. Ultimately, a most efficient organization would consist in having a limited number of talks per representative group in order to avoid doubling.
If a consensus is reached during the workshop, it would be highly profitable to possibly establish, at best collaborative links between the various groups with possible exchange of researchers and students, at worst an ongoing follow-up of progress in the field.

Hotel
Rooms for the nights of Nov 28th and 29th have been booked at the Hotel Riquet (metro station Marengo SNCF on line A). It is located very close to the train station (5 min walk).

Access to Toulouse
Toulouse airport is connected to major western European airports and hubs (Paris Orly and Roissy Charles de Gaulle, Munich, Frankfurt, London, Amsterdam) with regular connections by Air France/KLM, Lufthansa, British Airways for the major companies and also with connections by (Low Cost) Easy Jet, see
Plane provides by far the simplest access to Toulouse with reasonable fees for sufficiently early booking.
There are two ways to go downtown from the airport. The first one is a shuttle to downtown (first stop at Compans Caffarelli, on metro line B) every 20 mn (cost is 8 euros one way). As soon as one catches the shuttle, it takes about half an hour to get to the University thanks to the connection with line B at Compans Caffarelli station. The second option is the tramway line T2 starting from the airport and connecting to the metro line B at Palais de Justice. It then takes approximately 45 minutes.
An alternative access is provided by Carcassonne airport (about 45 minutes by car from Toulouse) which has connections with UK, Ireland, Belgium and Portugal.
In case of major problem, we shall organize some transfer. It would be useful to know sufficiently in advance such details.
The central train station is Toulouse Matabiau connected to line A of metro and is connected to major French cities.
The local transportation in Toulouse consists in two metro lines, two tramway lines, and several bus lines.
